Tonight is Oscar night — and I’ve got a couple of “Oscars” to announce as well. We just learned the results of the 2nd annual Axiom Business Book Awards, an international award sponsored by the independent publishing community aimed at “recognizing and promoting the world’s best business titles,” and in the category of Business Fables, the Gold Medal went to … (the envelope, please) … The Go-Giver and the amazing literary duo (and my friends) Bob Burg and John David Mann (rahhhhhh … the crowd goes wild)!
According to their web site, the Axiom Business Book Awards were created to recognize inspiring business books that help people improve their lives and careers. Sponsors include the Jenkins Group, Independent Publisher (IP), and Inc. magazine.
But that’s not the only “Oscar” I am privileged to award today. From my point of view, a Gold Medal goes to you, our amazing go-givers — thank you for your incredible outpouring of enthusiasm, energy and stratospheric support in getting the word out: you have grabbed this little red gem and really run with it! In its first year, The Go-Giver has been honored with:
- the Wall Street Journal bestseller list
- the BusinessWeek bestseller list
- the 8CR (800-CEO-Read) “Best of 2008” bestseller list
- the 8CR “International Bestseller” list
- the 8CR daily and monthly bestseller lists (35 times!)
- the Axiom Business Book Awards Gold Medal
and now
— and that’s all a result of your putting us on the radar of all these organizations! From Bob, John and me — and Pindar, Joe, Susan, Claire, Sam, Debra, Gus and all the rest — our deepest thanks for a phonemonal 2008. And here’s to an even greater 2009 as together, we work to transform the worldwide business community by living the Five Laws.
