There are so many true go-givers in the world. In fact, while it may seem that our little story is about a few imaginary people named Joe, Rachel, Claire and Pindar, it’s not — it’s about real people.
Like Eric, for example, and his manager.
A friend in St. Louis named Patty Cook (another go-giver, by the way — we’re starting to wonder if St. Louis is the capital of go-giverliness!) recently sent us this email:
My boyfriend, Eric, was selected by the local day labor organization where he worked as their employee of the month. Here is my transcript of the phone message Eric received from the manager there; I thought you might get a kick out of it! — Patty
“Eric Reinartz, Labor Finders Employee of the Month for August 2008, is a very special person.
“I can honestly say that I have never met anyone who demonstrates such unparalleled optimism and sincerity. Eric has worked on many assignments with us. He is always willing to work and always does a great job. He is honest, humble and focused on his goals, but more than that, when his fellow workers are having a tough time, he is more than willing to lend an ear and shed some positive perspective on their situation.
“He is a giver. In fact, he gave me a book called The Go-Giver. The staff here at the office read it. We were inspired by the message and recommend it to anyone who is interested. If you would like to read it, please let us know and we will buy you a copy.”
Now that’s a great manager.
Thanks, Patty — we did indeed get a kick out of it. And while I’m not a betting man, if I were you know what I’d bet? That others will too.
Wow, Eric, you are amazing. Not only does he give. But he inspires others to give. That is fantastic. What a teacher!
Hey Patty, it seems like you and Eric are meant for each other. Please keep giving.
I think we are on to something, folks.
This is becoming a huge movement. I believe this how we raise our conciousness.
