The other day we got this note from Adrienne Schultz, our amazing editor at Portfolio:
So on my way to work today, I was walking through the Times Square subway station—a busy spot, as you can imagine. There was a man walking against traffic, nearly bumping into everyone as he passed by. I was a bit annoyed, until I realized why he was so distracted. He was reading—was engrossed in—The Go-Giver! That just made my morning.
Ours, too.
The best thing I like about The Go-Giver is that there is a magical, mystical feeling after reading it. I intellectually understand why giving works, but there is something more. There is an X-factor which cannot be explained; it can only be experienced by applying the laws, which produces awesome synchronicities like the anecdote from Adrienne.
I think that the need for living in that mystical and mysterious realm is greater than the need for “the answer.”
David — Here is another: I’m right now honeymooning with my new bride on Hilton Head Island. The other day, it was raining, so we hopped in our rental car and sought out a nearby Barnes & Noble to find some good reading. I went to the “Inspiration and Motivation” shelf where The GoGiver is displayed; there were four copies. A few minutes later, the clerk asked me to sign the copies there, so I went back to the shelf — and in the 15 minutes or so, the four copies had been reduced to two. One copy had already been bought, and a man was standing there with another copy in hand, leafing through it. He told me he owned a company, and was thinking of buying this copy for his regional manager — whose name is Joe.
Synchronicity: a wink and a nod from the Absolute.
