Episode #4: Influential Words
Phil Jones grew up in the United Kingdom and entered the world of business at the tender age of 14. With nothing more than a bucket and a sponge Bob Burg’s friend, Phil Jones, went from single-handedly washing cars on weekends to hiring a fleet of friends, resulting in him earning more than his teachers by the time he was 15. Soon after, at just 18, he was offered the role of Sales Manager at fashion retailer Debenhams—making him the youngest Sales Manager in the company’s history.
While major corporate sales successes continued, Phil had a desire to take the wisdom he’d acquired and share it with others. Soon he became one of the most in-demand speakers in all of Europe, eventually moving here to the U.S.
Phil is not only one of Bob’s favorite people but also his go-to person in terms of “Exactly What to Say.” Actually, that is the name of one of Phil’s very popular books (also check out, “Exactly How to Sell”), and for good reason: Words are important! The right words—communicated the right way—are the difference-maker in terms of how our message is received and, as a result, how influential we can potentially be.
